FINAL RESULTS
 

Berkeley Striper Club  will be hosting a weeklong fishing tournament starting at 5 PM on Friday,  May 28, 2004 and ending at 12 noon on Sunday, June 6, 2004.  The purpose of the tournament is to raise money for Stripers Forever, a relatively new Internet group that is seeking to make striped bass a no-sale or game fish along the entire east coast.  Boundaries will include all New Jersey waters.  Letters have been sent to 18 sport stores from Sandy Hook to Long Beach Island, asking them to be an official weigh-in station AND to collect entrance fees for the tournament.  At the time of the tournament, each participating store will be contacted daily by a committee member to record any weigh-ins.  Each store will be given updated standings on a regular basis.

The tournament itself will actually be five tournaments in one.  There will be both a boat and shore caught striper division.  The fee for each division will be $30., with a 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd, place for each.  Additionally, there will be a bluefish, fluke and weakfish division but with only one prize for each.  The fee for each of these divisions is $10. and participants may fish from a boat or from the shore.  Of the money collected for each division, 50% will go towards the prizes and 50% minus the cost of running the tournament will be donated to Stripers Forever.  Of the 50% collected for each striper division 50% will be awarded for 1^st place, 30% for 2^nd place and 20% for 3^rd place.  Of the 50% collected for each of the bluefish, fluke, and weakfish divisions, 100% will be awarded for 1^st place. 

Participants may enter all five of the divisions or just one.  Please help out by entering this tournament.  Additionally our club is selling advertisement space for the tournament pamphlet which will be distributed in late April or early May.  A ¼ page advertisement will be $50. ½ page $100. and full page $150.  The deadline for those wishing to advertise is April 25, 2004.  Please consider placing an advertisement for your business and/or soliciting advertisement space for others whom you know.
